We got a Golfer!
So the birthday golf club set was a hit. Aidan loves it. And to top it off. . .he's good! His drives look like 100 yards and he almost knocked a window out. Twice. Bob has stars in his eyes. I'm sure he is channeling Tiger Woods' dad now. Fatherhood is complete.
Me, I'm thinking of college scholarships. Or better yet, a family tradition. We'll all learn to golf. We'll do it together forever. If Isabel's family can all downhill ski together, we'll be the golfing family. What a brilliant idea and so cozy. Amanda, how about a set of golf clubs for your birthday too? Mama panda is getting excited at the prospect of such respectable family unity.
"I see golf clubs as a waste of money," Amanda replied. "I'd rather have a button maker."

Cheers, everyone. Thanks so much for coming over to the liver blog.
With love, T

Terri,
You are hilarious! I hope you do become the golfing family. Maybe Amanda could ride around on the golf cart and make buttons. She could sell the buttons to buy everyone new clubs. Isabel, Elena and I saw Hairspray last weekend too. We immediately thought of you and Amanda from the beginning. We loved the movie too. I even rented the original and watched it with Isabel a couple of nights ago. It wasn't as good!! There was a lot more kissing and a couple of words I didn't care to have Isabel hear. Elena has insisted since High School Musical that she is marrying Zach Efron (what kind of five year old already thinks of that??!!), so she was excited to see him in Hairspray.
There is a family at our church who just left to go to South Dakota for vacation. I thought of you then too. I think of you often, but I'm just really bad at keeping in touch. How does time keep flying past so quickly? I hope we can get together at some point. Isabel misses Amanda.
Take care,
Lisa
Hi Terri and Bob,
Marian just logged on and got the news of The Call. Congratulations Pastor Bob and bravo to everyone in the family. How great is that. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
It is cloudy and cold here in Geneva, just for contrast with your good news. We will stay tuned for August 19. When you get down there say hi to Rachel Mithelman. It will be a privilege to work with her. Also see that the parish is 'in the city for good' -- just like Brooklyn Bob and also my old school, Augsburg.
(At first I thought there might be another connection because in ALC days we were sponsored as missionaries inter alia by a Des Moines parish. Almost coulda sworn it was a St Johns, but neither the marble Jesus nor the fountain in the courtyard rings a bell. Have to check the records.)
lots of love,
Jonathan and Marian
